We Are Created in His Image

Dearest Tribe Members,

I believe that we are created in God’s image. The more I study the human body and the more I am in awe. Did you know that 95% of the human body renews itself within 1 year, 100 % within 2 years? You actually make a new brain, a heart , new eyes, a new body!

This fascinating fact is not something they typically teach in medical school. Instead, disease states are emphasized with tragic case scenarios. We study what is wrong in the body instead of what is right.

Wouldn’t it be such an uplifting experience if our education emphasized the amazing ways our body heals instead of disease states? We could begin to see and contemplate ways of assisting the body in healing, instead of approaching our symptoms with fear and dread. Each one of us would start to think through the messages our body is sending us and the solutions would come naturally.

I am grateful for my osteopathic education. We have the same education as allopathic physicians, except our philosophy is different. We believe that the mind, body, and spirit are all equally important and interconnected for health. Along with this principle I also believe in God’s word, and that He created us in His image. Our bodies are made wonderfully and fearfully. I believe that the body has the inherent ability to heal itself, and that medicines and surgery should be the last option. We believe that structure and function are reciprocal. For example, a spine that is out of alignment (scoliosis) will lead to impaired function of the body. Correcting the structure, in this case alignment of the spine, can improve the function of the body. Someone can feel improvement of pain and better mobility, or perhaps improvement of the internal organs associated with the region, such as better digestion or kidney function.

Osteopaths also get training in manipulation, similar to chiropractics. Unfortunately most do not use this skill set after graduation as the current pressures of the medical system make it difficult to pursue. For me, the training was excellent in fine tuning my ability to diagnose with my hands.

As I put my hand on someone to diagnose them, I feel the temperature changes and that clues me to the circulation of the body as well as sites of inflammation. I always feel the radial artery in the wrist. I pay attention to the strength, duration, quality, intensity, frequency of the pulse which tells me the overall current state of the internal organs.

From there the skin elasticity is felt as the layers of epidermis, dermis, subcutaneous fat, fascia, muscle, and even bone can be palpated through skilled hands. With more focus and stillness, a rhythm in the body is felt. Osteopaths call it the cranial rhythm although scientifically it has not been fully understood.

Many of my patients were amazed at my ability to predict their blood results simply by my hands on evaluation. I explained to each of them that they could do the same if they practiced as well. To begin with, the body should be the same temperature everywhere. Take your open hand with the palm facing body and slide over different areas. See if you feel an area that is “hotter” than another. If you do, there is a good chance that there is inflammation in that area. Now what organ is underneath that area?

For example, many people have increased heat in the right upper quadrant in the front of their abdomen. Looking at a picture of human anatomy, you will see that the liver and gallbladder are in that region. This would make one suspect that the liver and/or gallbladder is inflamed.

Inflammation in these organs can be caused by toxins or poisons. The liver cleanses your blood and . Too many poisons can overwhelm this organ and cause inflammation. Sometimes the inflammation can cause fat cells to be deposited in and around the liver in an attempt to protect it from more damage. Too many fat cells in the liver then you may be diagnosed with fatty liver. One function of fat cells is storing toxins for us until we are able to process them.

I would think of all the possible toxins in one’s lifestyle. Alcohol, prescription medicines, over the counter medicines, cleaning supplies, work related toxin exposure, ground contamination where you live, sick building syndrome (mold), processed food, heavy metal toxins(amalgam fillings and vaccines are big contributors), public water, etc. Sometimes an infection can cause the inflammation, such as parasites, bacteria, fungus, or amoeba.

Make changes to stop or reduce the toxin exposure. Think of ways to assist your body in clearing out toxins. Some ways to detox the liver include herbal supplements, tinctures and teas.

Milk thistle is excellent for liver health. I had many patients improve their AST and ALT (liver enzymes) and reduce jaundice simply by adding this herb as a supplement.

Another way to improved liver and digestive health is through castor oil packs. These improve lymphatic flow in the body, help assimilation and elimination In the the area as well.

There are many ways we can heal ourselves, but first we have to know who and what we are. I believe that we are made in God’s image; therefore through Him all things are possible!

• Believe and have faith in being a son or daughter of the true living God. Miracles are real, and you have the ability to heal. Our thoughts are powerful, so use your words wisely. If you think you will be sick, then you will likely be sick. If you think you will be healthy, then you will likely be healthy.

• Your body is a temple, so treat it as such. Invest in healthy, locally grown, nonGMO foods. Exercise, take time to rest and enjoy meals with family and friends. Invest in your health and not material things; most people take better care of their car or house instead of the body God gifted them.

Begin to learn how your body CAN HEAL instead of the fear of what could happen. Let’s begin a journey together to learn about how wonderfully and fearfully you are made in His Image! Tune in August 20th for Tuesday Tribe Talk at 7pm EDT where I will go over common physical signs for dis-ease in the human body and what to do about them.

With the greatest of love and many blessings,

Carrie Madej

Carrie Madej's insights on healing resonate deeply. Emphasizing the body's natural ability to recover is refreshing, especially in a world focused on disease. It's a reminder to appreciate our health and seek holistic solutions. On a lighter note, Snow Rider is an exciting way to embrace the winter fun!
