The Power of Prayer
Dearest Tribe Members,
I was walking to my car when I saw a swallowtail butterfly flapping furiously in a nearby bush. I stopped and leaned down to get a closer look at her, and I saw that she was trapped in a sticky spider web.
I could feel her panic and I started to talk to her. “Don’t worry, I will help you. It’s going to be all right.”
I carefully started to pull at the web, but it was particularly sticky. It took me several minutes to carefully remove the web from her delicate wings. Unfortunately, the bottom right wing was torn off and tiny piece was stuck on her left tip. Afterwards she collapsed on the ground and seemed to give up. Her body seemed lifeless.
With tears in my eyes, I cupped her in my hands and prayed over her. “God, please heal this butterfly. Give her a miracle so she can fly again.”
I carefully scooped her up and placed her on the bush again. “You can do it, stay here and rest.”
She flapped her wings a little and stayed upright on the bush. Her wing was terribly torn and she would surely die. But perhaps God would intervene?
Two days later, I returned and proceeded to walk down the path where the butterfly was last placed. As I was walking, a swallowtail butterfly was darting back-and-forth in front of me. I glanced up and saw it, swirling in the air in front of me and then darting in front of me again.
“Could it really be the same butterfly?” I thought to myself. Just as I was pondering this, she landed in the same bush where I pulled the web off the butterfly days before.
Proudly, she opened her wings all the way, so I could see, that yes, it was her! I scrambled for my phone to take a photo. She seemed so proud!
Psalm 77:13-14 ESV
Your way, O God, is holy. What god is great like our God?
You are the God who works wonders; you have made known your might among the peoples.

Tears came to my eyes again. By all counts, it was a miracle that she was still alive and was able to fly! On top of that, she remembered me and wanted to show me that she was doing well.
Our Father in Heaven is amazing, isn’t He? He created us in His image and He created all of the earth and nature for us. Everything is connected, and animals and insects have emotions too.
Genesis 1:27 KJV
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”
Just remember that when all seems lost, God will light the way. He makes all things possible for us. Just as He cared for this butterfly, how much more will He care for you, who is made in His image? He only asks for you to believe and have faith in Him.
If we take time to look around us and see the wonders of this world, we can begin to connect to our Creator.
With great love and many blessings,
