Dearest Members,

The Hebrew letter Shin

Many of you know that I prefer to read scripture that includes the Hebrew names. For me, knowing the different names and their meanings has been revelatory; I can dig deeper and see another layer of understanding. It has allowed me to form a richer connection with Abba, our Father, Yeshua/Jesus Christ, our Saviour, and Ruach HaKodesch, our Holy Spirit. In the scriptures, there are 72 names for God, describing the different characteristics.

Last month I spoke to Marlena, one of our dear tribe members, and she was teaching me about one of the names of God, El Shaddai. El Shaddai means “Lord God Almighty” or “All Sufficient One”. Shaddai is derived from the Hebrew word shad meaning breast. This gives the idea that God is completely nurturing, satisfying, and supplying His people with all their needs as a mother would her child.

Genesis 1:27 CJB

“God created humankind in his own image;

in the image of God he created him: male and female he created them.”

Genesis 5:2 CJB

He created them male and female; he blessed them and called them Adam [humankind, man] on the day they were created.

Gen 17:1 When Abram was 99 years old, Adonai appeared to Abram, and He said to him, “I am El Shaddai. Continually walk before Me and you will be blameless.”

The Hebrew letter Shin looks like the letter W with a dot over it. The Shin also stands for El Shaddai in the Jewish community.

Marlena recently sent me a picture of the human heart with the letter Shin superimposed. I was excited to see how they matched one another, and how the electrical pathway of the heart mirrored the letter Shin/El Shaddai. It was an incredible example of how we are created in His image. We see the nurturing, All-Sufficient One in the power of the heart.

The Heartmath Institute has been studying the electromagnetic energy from human bodies and has discovered that the human heart is the strongest of any organ. In the average person, one’s energy goes out about 6 feet from their body. In people who exhibit more loving qualities and more spiritually connected with their Creator, their energy goes out much farther! Love is the highest frequency measurable.

1John 4:16 CJB “Also we have come to know and trust the love that God has for us. God is love; and those who remain in this love remain united with God, and God remains united with them.”

Marlena went on to tell me her theory that a man or woman who is Yirra Shamayim (fear as in reverence of heaven, reverence for God) the stronger these 3 lines in the heart become along with its dot on the right side in the heart. Perhaps it becomes very pronounced in one who is God fearing (as in holy reverence). It is an interesting theory.

Matthew 5:8 CJB “How blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”

We are all made in God’s image. Whether or not we are in His likeness, is up to us.

With many blessings and shalom,

Carrie Madej
