Dearest Tribe Members- That old spirit of hopelessness was lingering around me as I drove from Georgia to Michigan this past month. It happens from time to time as the world news seems to get more bizarre. I had plenty of alone time to think on my trip, and my mind was processing the latest information. I began to think about my friends who have family members getting seriously ill and/or dying while some of my medical colleagues are reporting increasing number of patients have strange syndromes/serious illnesses. They say they don’t know why this is happening at an increasing rate but I do. On the education front, there is increasing disruption in the school system, and many don’t see it as a safe place for children. Gender and identity issues, school shootings, new math, and the WHO’s implied consent mandate have created a battlefield for our little ones. Then in world news, the battle between Ukraine and Russia continues. Pipelines have been sabotaged. Then there was the adoption this week by the 7th World Religions Congress of the Human Fraternity document created by Pope Francis and Mohamed bin Zayed, and Chrislam is now the official One World Religion. Yes, you read that correctly. A one world religion. Whew. That list is pretty heavy. I know that I’m not the only one who feels this way. “And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.” Matthew 24:6 KJV As I was in Michigan that heavy feeling continued. I asked God to guide me, and I asked for peace. He always answers, I just knew that I had to be still and listen. “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14 NIV “Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!” Psalm 37:7 ESV The next day I visited my brother, his wife, and their two young children. As I stepped inside their home, my niece and nephew brightened up the room with smiles and laughter. They were pure joy and wonder. We went outside to see their garden and thoroughly enjoyed every detail, every butterfly, every flower, every vegetable. We went on to inspect the neighbors’ sweet corn and discussed how good it tastes with butter. Figgy the amazing cat exited the cornstalks and the kids squealed with delight as he patiently allowed them to carry him around the property. Around this time the sunset began to show brilliant reds, oranges, and purples. We all sat on the patio and commented on how God is the best artist! As the colors faded we sat outside by a fire and pondered the meaning of the stars in the sky. We even dug out a telescope from the garage to get a closer inspection of the constellations. That night we slept well, and we all had a smiles on our faces. “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NIV The next day my sister-in-law took this photo of a white dove sitting on their patio. The dove was quite relaxed as she looked into their house for about 10minutes. My sister-in-law excitedly shared it with me, as that area doesn’t even have pigeons. “It’s a sign, don’t you think?”
I smiled and answered “It’s definitely a sign. The Holy Spirit is with us.” And John bore witness: “I saw the Spirit descend from heaven like a dove, and it remained on him.” John 1:32 With that reminder of the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, upon us, what do we have to fear? As long as we are only in this world but not of this world, we have the promise of citizenship in Heaven through salvation in Yeshua/Jesus Christ. Hallelujah “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them” 2Kings 6:16 ESV The next day Isaiah, Aurora and I prayed for God’s help. “We love and need you Lord. Let your spirit fill your daughters and sons. Heal our people and our land.
